Mystery of Israel

I am joining with for Five Minute Friday. The goal is to write for five minutes about a word. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

The prompt is:

Falling headlong
Into ideas that once
I could not have imagined

Nearly everything I had come to believe
Called into question again
All I had perceived
Allowed to be readdressed again

Who would have thought
Learning here,
Teaching there,
Arguing and pressing,
Pushing and pulling
That so much more would be yet to comprehend

Who is Israel?
Outstanding in the number of mentions
In the book I held so dear
Yet never addressed
By a teacher or a leader or a mentor or a friend

How much did I have to grow and learn
When it came to Israel
And her people
And her history

Mind blown,
Heart moved
As the mystery emerges

  1. Oh I’m going to have to return! I love learning about Israel and our Hebrew roots as Christians. I follow Hebrew for Christians on Facebook and have learned and grown so much through what I’ve read…even just studying the Hebrew root words in the Old Testament has been such a blessing: the meaning of the word “trust” alone blew me away and helped me see just how much is lost in translation.
