Tehillim 130/Psalm 130

Psalm 130

A Song of Ascents.
Out of the depths I cry to You, Adonai!
Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
to the sound of my supplications.
If You, Adonai, should mark iniquities—
O Lord, who could stand?
For with You there is forgiveness,
that You may be feared.
I wait for Adonai, my soul waits,
and in His word I hope.
My soul waits for my Lord,
more than those who watch for the morning,
yes, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
O Israel, hope in Adonai.
For with Adonai there is lovingkindness and mercy,
and with Him is abundant redemption,
and He will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

Tehillim 122/Psalm 122

Psalm 122

A Song of Ascents. Of David.
I rejoiced when they said to me,
“Let us go to the House of Adonai.”
Our feet are standing within your gates,
O Jerusalem,
Jerusalem, built as a city joined together.
There the tribes go up, the tribes of Adonai,
as a testimony to Israel,
to praise the Name of Adonai.
For thrones are set there for judgment,
the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,
“May those who love you be at peace!
May there be shalom within your walls,
quietness within your palaces.”
For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say:
“Shalom be within you.”
For the sake of the House of Adonai our God,
I will seek your good.

I waited patiently for the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry
He took me up out of the pit,
Out of the miry clay

I will sing, sing a new song
How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song

He set my feet upon a rock
He established and ordered my steps

Many will see, many will see and hear
How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song

Do not withhold your tender mercies from me, O Lord;
Let your lovingkindness and your truth continually preserve me

Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you
Let such as love your salvation say continually,
“The Lord be magnified!”
But I am poor and needy;
Yet the Lord thinks upon me
You are my help and my deliverer;
Do not delay, O my G-d

Excerpts from Psalm 40 and 40 by U2

U2 Video Performance of Forty:
40 by U2

May G-d lift the head of his people Israel
Like he did David’s head,
Time and time again

Once again
May he deliver them out of the pit,
Out of the miry clay
And put a new song in their mouth
A song of hallel
That many will see and fear
And trust in the name of the Lord

May We Remember

Gate of Auschwitz-Birkenau ©desireisrael.com
Gate of Auschwitz-Birkenau ©desireisrael.com

In memory of a man who much of the world knew as one defined by and articulating the depths of the suffering which was the Holocaust, Elie Wiesel.
May his memory be a blessing.

Lives were formed and shaped, built and moving forward
In the hopes that the rejection and suspicion,
The paranoia and hatred of the past had finally gone away

Thriving Jewish life and vibrant Jewish communities
Became possible in Europe finally
After centuries of pogroms, pain and persecution
Liberation had come
Equality and freedom had won

Many believed that anti-Semitism
Was finally a thing of the past
Yet this virus of the soul had not died
But remained latent
Waiting for a time to lash out once again

In retrospect, with history behind us
We know when this happened with a vengeance
And most cannot quite comprehend humanity’s ability
To stand in silence, to hate, to allow murder like this

Most do not understand
The degradation and torture of another people
Like was done with Hitler at the helm

Most could not comprehend this happening again
Yet boycotts and hatred run rampant online and offline
They reek of a similar putrid odor
Of that of the thirties in a Germany
That most want to forget

Yet some cannot erase the memory
Of dignity ripped away, family stolen,
Lives lost and humanity crushed

May we remember every Holocaust survivor today
May we pray that G-d himself visit
And reveal Himself to them
As the one who never left them nor forsook them
Despite what their experience has been

But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me,
and my Lord has forgotten me.”
“Can a woman forget her nursing child,
and not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
your walls are continually before Me.”
Isaiah 49:14-16

“When Israel was a child, I loved him,
Out of Egypt I called My son…
I taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by their arms;
But they did not know that I healed them.
I drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love,
And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck.
I stooped and fed them…
How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel?
My heart churns within Me; My sympathy is stirred.”
Hosea 11:1, 3-4, 8

Do not forget Jerusalem

IMG_5039 - Version 2

Writing Every Day for Thirty-One Days
to Speak Life over Israel

While much of the earth is speaking death and accusation over the Jewish nation, let’s take 31 days to do the opposite. Let’s speak life over the nation of Israel and the Jewish people.

Day 31: Almost

The challenges continue in Israel
Attacks happening on a near daily basis
Many attacks have happened in and near Hevron
where the patriarchs were buried
Attacks are too common in Judea and Samaria
Stabbings have also visited Rishon leZion and Tel Aviv

The difficulties continue for Israel
Yet Israel hasn’t lost hope
Israel cannot lose hope
Israel hasn’t given up
and cannot give up

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem
Whether you’re in Israel
or you’re on the other side of the planet,

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem
G-d loves Jerusalem and marked that city forever
He will not forget Jerusalem nor his people, ever
Because G-d does not forget,
Do not forget
Because his love does not grow cold,
Do not let your love grow cold

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,
“May they prosper who love you.
Peace be within your walls,
Prosperity within your palaces.”
For the sake of my brethren and companions,
I will now say, “Peace be within you.”
Because of the house of the Lord our G-d
I will seek your good.

Tehillim/Psalm 122

If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
Let my right hand forget its skill!
If I do not remember you,
Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth –
If I do not exalt Jerusalem above my chief joy.

Writing Every Day for Thirty-One Days
to Speak Life over Israel

While much of the earth is speaking death and accusation over the Jewish nation, let’s take 31 days to do the opposite. Let’s speak life over the nation of Israel and the Jewish people.

Day 27: Perhaps

Perhaps things are better than they seem
Perhaps the hatred we see is not really hatred at all
Perhaps the darkness of young ones
desiring to murder Jews in the name of god
isn’t as bad as it seems
Perhaps peace is possible
Perhaps

Perhaps the world will not continue in their anti-Semitic ways
Perhaps Israel will not be hated continually,
in the same way Jews have been hated century after century
Perhaps

Perhaps the kings will bow before the one G-d
Perhaps the enemies of G-d will stop their hating
Perhaps those who hate the G-d of Israel
will change their ways
and change their minds
and change their hearts
Perhaps

May the wicked turn to G-d
that they may not perish in their wickedness
May those who glorify death
turn from their wicked ways
and seek the living G-d who gave them life

May the haters find G-d’s love
May those seeking death find G-d’s life
May those given to darkness encounter G-d’s light

May G-d keep and protect his people Israel
from those seeking their destruction
May Israel find deliverance and life
in the G-d who has never forgotten nor forsaken them
May Israel run into the heart of G-d
who made Israel for his own glory

Baruch haShem

Standing with Israel, Standing with G-d

O G-d, do not be silent;
 do not hold aloof;
do not be quiet, O G-d! For Your enemies rage,
Your foes assert themselves. They plot craftily against Your people,
 take counsel against Your treasured ones. They say, “Let us wipe them out as a nation;
Israel’s name will be mentioned no more.”…pursue them with Your tempest,
terrify them with Your storm. Cover their faces with shame
so that they seek Your name, O Lord…May they know
that Your name, Yours alone, is the Lord,
supreme over all the earth. Tehillim/Psalm 83

to Speak Life over Israel

While much of the earth is speaking death and accusation over the Jewish nation, let’s take 31 days to do the opposite. Let’s speak life over the nation of Israel and the Jewish people.

Day 25: Crash

As the difficulties come and stay
and do not quickly fade away
May you help Israel to find their safety in you
O G-d of Israel

Today as the tumult ebbs and flows
in the land you called your own
Would you help your people
to know you, to see you,
to love you with all their heart, soul and strength

Shema Yisrael
Adonai Eloheinu
Adonai Echad
Baruch Shem Kavod
Malkhuto Le’olam va’ed

This day Abba calls you home
O Israel
to love him with all your heart, all your soul
and with all your strength

He hasn’t left you alone
He hasn’t forsaken you
He will keep all his promises
to you and your descendants forever

Hear, O Israel
The Lord is G-d
He is one

Remember this daily
Do not forget who you are
O Israel, Sons of Jacob
Do not forget your destiny
Your G-d has written for you

G-d Cares for His People

While much of the earth is speaking death and accusation over the Jewish nation, let’s take 31 days to do the opposite. Let’s speak life over the nation of Israel and the Jewish people.

Day 22: Value

G-d himself chose a people
He made himself a nation
He values his people
beyond our comprehension and understanding
He cares for His beloved
and he will contend with those who contend with her

G-d of Israel
Please have mercy on Israel today
Reveal yourself to your people
Reveal the depths of your heart to your people
Your great love is greater than any hatred
Your life is greater than death
Your light is greater than darkness

Abba, please have your way
in the land you chose
Please have your way
in the place you called home
